These firms generate high trading volumes by acting as market makers, continuously providing liquidity and capturing the bid–ask spread across global markets. They also execute large volumes of client trades using advanced electronic platforms and offer services like prime brokerage, which further drives trading activity.

Most the of the top 10 currency traders entries are the traditonal wire houses / bulge bracket /too big too fail / banks but there are also some high-frequency trading outfits from the City of London and New York City that play an increasingly large role with huge volumes of trades.
