In this BK Traders review, we look at one of the most credentialed forex and macro trading services available to retail traders — built by two former Wall Street analysts whose careers span JPMorgan, Drexel Burnham Lambert, FXCM and Global Futures, and who launched DailyFX before building their own independent platform.

Every platform we review goes through the same process:

  • Instructor verification — trading history, qualifications, media presence and independently published track record.
  • Content review — curriculum, format and depth, sampling lessons or sessions where accessible.
  • Pricing and terms — full pricing structure, refund policy, recurring or hidden costs.
  • Independent member feedback — cross-referenced across platforms outside the company’s own site.
  • Community and support testing — response times and engagement quality, where access allows.

Trading outcomes depend on the individual trader. Our scores reflect the quality, credibility and value of the education itself, not a guarantee of results.

BKTraders Review: Who’s behind it

Kathy Lien graduated from New York University’s Stern School of Business at 18 and began her career on the interbank FX trading desk at JPMorgan Chase. She later launched DailyFX.com in 2003 as Chief Strategist, building it into one of the most widely-read forex research platforms in the world.

She is the author of three books — Day Trading and Swing Trading the Currency Market, The Little Book of Currency Trading and Millionaire Traders — and is a regular commentator on CNBC, quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Bloomberg. She is Managing Director of FX Strategy at BK Asset Management.

Boris Schlossberg began his career at Drexel Burnham Lambert, trading equities, options, stock index futures and foreign exchange. He joined FXCM in 2004 to help build its FX education initiative before joining Global Futures as Director of Currency Research alongside Kathy Lien.

He is also a published author — Technical Analysis of the Currency Market and Millionaire Traders, both published by Wiley — and a regular contributor to CNBC Squawk Box, with his daily research quoted by Reuters, Dow Jones and Agence France Presse.

Together they co-founded BKForex Advisors in 2007, which has since rebranded to BKTraders.com to reflect an expanded scope beyond pure forex into indices, commodities and crypto.

âš  Important: Only use the official site

Kathy Lien and Boris Schlossberg are legitimate, well-known traders — but their names have been used by impersonators on fake websites and social media accounts to solicit payments and Bitcoin transfers. The only legitimate website is bktraders.com. If you are directed to any other domain or asked to send funds directly to Kathy or Boris, it is a scam. Neither Kathy nor Boris will ever ask you to transfer money or cryptocurrency to them personally.

What You Get With BKTraders

The core of the Active Trader membership is Kathy’s real-time trade ideas across forex, gold, US30 and Bitcoin, combined with Boris’s live futures and indices trading room. Both feeds are complemented by daily live streams where Kathy and Boris discuss market sentiment, key macro stories, overnight trades and upcoming opportunities — giving members both the signals and the reasoning behind them, which is a meaningful distinction from services that deliver calls without context.

The platform’s most distinctive analytical feature is Kathy’s Fundamental Heatmap — a tool that maps the underlying economic trends driving each currency pair, helping traders filter out technically valid but fundamentally weak setups. Economic data predictions and a weekly trading calendar add to the macro framework. On the technical side, the ZIP indicator (Kathy’s momentum tool built on 1-hour charts, trading forex, gold, US30 and Bitcoin) and the BFF indicator (Boris’s colour-coded dot system for breakout and swing signals across indices, forex, gold, oil and crypto) are both included with membership and available on TradingView and MT4. A Profit Shield Pro execution tool handles position sizing, stop placement and limit orders in a single click — a practical addition for traders who want to control risk without manual calculation. All of this is backed by Discord community access and a library of 10 or more pro trading strategy videos.

Cost and Value

The Active Trader plan at $197 a month includes trade ideas, Boris’s live trading room, premium indicators and direct access to Kathy and Boris. The Strategy Tools plan covers indicators, fundamental tools, live streams and community access at $125 a month (or $95 a month billed every six months, or $83 a month on the annual plan).

A separate Pass the Prop coaching programme — three months of live coaching for a one-time $675 payment with no recurring charge — is aimed at traders preparing for prop firm evaluations.

At $197 a month for the full Active Trader package, the pricing is on the higher end of signal and analysis services, but reflects genuine institutional-calibre macro analysis that is hard to find elsewhere at this price point.

The annual plan at $83 a month for Strategy Tools is a more accessible entry point for traders who want the indicators and fundamental framework without the live trade ideas feed. There is no free trial listed, though the website offers free cheat sheet downloads as a way to sample the content style before committing.

Community and Ongoing Support

Direct access to Kathy and Boris is specifically listed as a membership benefit across all tiers — not a premium add-on for a top tier, but part of the standard offering. The Discord community provides ongoing discussion and the live streams run daily, meaning members have consistent touchpoints with both educators throughout the trading week. Boris’s personal engagement in his live trading room is a genuine differentiator for index and futures traders who want to see how an experienced practitioner handles setups in real time.

Independent reviews of the service are mixed in volume — there are relatively few Trustpilot entries given the platform’s age — but long-term members consistently describe the quality of Kathy’s fundamental analysis as the standout feature, particularly for traders who want to understand the macro forces behind currency moves rather than just follow technical signals.

Things to Know Before Joining

BKTraders covers forex, gold, US30, Nasdaq and Bitcoin — it does not focus on individual stocks or the broader crypto market beyond Bitcoin. The refund policy is strict: the platform does not issue refunds, so taking the time to read the free content and watch the YouTube channel before committing is worthwhile. The no-refund policy is the clearest friction point in independent reviews and worth factoring in before signing up to any tier.

The platform’s macro and fundamental approach also requires a degree of engagement — this is not a passive signal-following service where you receive an alert and click execute. The ZIP and BFF indicators provide clear buy and sell signals, but Kathy and Boris consistently emphasise filtering those signals through fundamentals and market context. Traders who want a completely hands-off alerts experience may find the required engagement higher than expected.

BKTraders Review: Who It Suits

Forex, commodity and index traders who want institutional-quality macro and technical analysis from two of the most credentialed educators in the currency space, at a price point that would have been unavailable to retail traders a decade ago. Particularly well suited to traders who want to understand why the market is moving, not just where the signal says it’s going. The breakdown below covers fit by trading style.

Forex TradingStrong FitCurrency markets are the foundation of the platform — Kathy’s fundamental heatmap and ZIP indicator are built specifically around G20 forex pairs.
Gold TradingStrong FitGold is explicitly covered by both the ZIP and BFF indicators alongside daily live streams — one of the clearest market focuses on the platform.
US Indices (US30 / NAS)Strong FitBoris’s BFF indicator and live trading room focus heavily on US30 and Nasdaq — well-suited for index traders looking for structured setups.
Fundamentals-FocusedStrong FitKathy’s fundamental heatmap and economic data predictions are a standout differentiator — rare in trading education at this price point.
Prop Firm ChallengersStrong FitA dedicated Pass the Prop coaching programme is offered — the BFF indicator is explicitly marketed for passing prop firm challenges.
Swing TradersAcceptableThe ZIP indicator works across short and medium-term timeframes — swing traders can use the signals, though the platform skews toward shorter-term active trading.
Crypto TradersAcceptableBitcoin is now included in the ZIP and BFF signal coverage — a relatively recent addition that reflects the rebrand from BKForex to BKTraders.
US Equities / StocksNot the FocusIndividual stock coverage is not a core part of the platform — focus remains on forex, commodities and indices.
